The Grand Canyon
Day 3 (April 2) -
Grand Canyon Day! We got up around 5:30am and had breakfast and began to hike to the bottom of the Grand Canyon at 8am. At the top of the Canyon it was about 40 degrees and windy but as we climbed further and further down it became hotter and hotter. By the time we reached the river 8 miles from the rim and 6,000 feet below it, it was probably around 90 degrees outside with no clouds and bright, bright sunshine!It was noon when we reached the Colorado River and we relaxed and had lunch for about an hour down there before we turned around and started hiking back up. We reached the rim at about 7pm and collapsed. Before we collapsed we had dinner and managed to crawl into our sleeping bags.
