Geology Field Trip to the American Southwest
March/April 1997

Jeff's love of the Southwest started with a weeklong Geology Field trip that he and the other students at Lyndon in the Geology program put together.  So for spring break, instead of the beaches of Cancun, Jeff, along with 3 other students and their geology professor, headed to Nevada, Utah and Arizona for an 8 day odyssey throughout the southwest.

We explored the desert around Las Vegas and checked out a thrust fault in the Spring Mountains, then took a look at an anticline in Quail Creek - took in the wonders of Zion National Park, tried to get to Bryce Canyon and finally ended up at the Grand Canyon before returning to Vegas for our flight back to Vermont.

.

We started just outside of Vegas, taking a look at Frenchman Mountain. Here's Jeff with Vegas in the background.
