03/21/2005: "it's not like there's a country to run or anything..."
I took a half-day - I didn't want to have to go into Boston after having a morning meeting, so I figured today is as good as any day to get the bloodwork done for my impending doctor's appointment since he's got to 'check' my cholesterol everytime I go now. What a crock of shit - the only reason they're putting so much effort into making sure I'm healthy is the fact that I have good insurance coverage. If I was some poor schmuck, I wouldn't get half the care I'm getting. Kind of depressing since you know a lot of people don't have a benefit plan like state employees do.
I see that the Congress has nothing better to do than pass laws interfering in personal matters. If I didn't think a living will was important before to make sure my desires were carried out, I'm ready to make an appointment with a lawyer at this point. It's simply a badly veiled attempt by the Republicans to promote 'life.' If they can pull the card here, it gives them ammunition to go after abortion. I sure hope that the republican lose at least one of the chambers, I cannot take much more of this theocracy.
I got to embarass Annoying Coworker at the meeting and make her look stupid. I was also able to continue to position myself as the natural replacement for my boss. The job hasn't been posted yet, but the resume is good to go. Either way it goes, at least I know I'll be taken more seriously than Annoying Coworker ever would be.
