02/15/2005: "jacket whore"
Of course, just as I got off the train last night and started to drive home, it was snowing…By the time I got out towards 495 on the Pike it was really snowing and by the time I got home, it was like a little white-out.
There were some nice flowers waiting for me at home.
Moe and I hung around the house a bit – seeing if we could find any deals on Disney and trying to wait for the snow to turn to rain – but that didn’t happen – it continued to snow quite hard. However, he had forgotten some stuff he was going to drop off at the store – so we headed that way and it wasn’t snowing all that bad.
We had figured we’d just go to our regular place for dinner – but by the time we got over there, we were thinking something a little different would be nice. He suggested Bugaboo Creek, which while it’s hardly fine dining – isn’t bad. So we went there, but there was like an hour and a half wait – so we drove by several other places with just as long waits.
I was getting more and more frustrated and was like let’s just go back home and then look around over there. Well, all I knew was that I didn’t want to sit at home on Valentine’s Day eating take-out, so we headed home, past home and ended up back on 146 heading towards Worcester. The snow hadn’t stopped yet and it was literally a mini-blizzard and of course, 146 was completely untouched by plows or sand trucks. Let’s just say it was a slow (and quiet) drive up to mall. We tried to go to the Longhorn Steakhouse, but I walk in and they’re like “it’s at least a 90 minute wait” (this is now 8 at night) and I turned around and walked out – I’m not waiting that long for crappy food. So since EMS was next door, I told Moe I was going to go somewhere I’d enjoy myself. It didn’t hurt that I saw the large clearance signs in the windows.
Then you know what happened? Oops, I bought a new jacket…
Come on, it was a down vest that originally sold for $79 that was marked down to $29 – how can any self respecting jacket whore pass that one up?
I got Moe a down jacket for $29 and I got a fleece pullover for another $29. I wanted to get even more, but I let Moe prevail when he was like “you don’t need all of that…” So I only got some of that.
The hot sales guy at EMS helped improve my mood too.
After that we headed over to Barnes and Noble and I got pissed off – I was looking for a gay & lesbian wedding planning book and while they have plenty of GLBT books and plenty of wedding books, they have absolutely nothing for gay weddings. WTF? You’re in Massachusetts where it’s legal, you’d think they would have at least a single book.
I guess I’ll just have to keep looking.
And you know where we ended up having dinner? Pizzaria Uno, the one place that almost guarantees that I get a stomach ache. It didn’t let me down either – by the time we got home I didn’t feel that good.

Interesting...I always get sick to my stomache after Uno's, too. Strangely enough, I don't get sick when I get their refrigeterated ones at the supermarket and heat it up myself.
