01/20/2005: "commuter karma"
You would have thought there was 6 feet of snow on the roads this morning, which turned out to literally just be wet after last night’s snowfall. At one point on the drive in this morning I think I was going somewhere around 25 mph on a completely open section of road that was just wet and had salt on it.
The T wasn’t much better since on every day after a snowy day, people take the T in to avoid driving in the city – and as usual, it was packed. I had several people smash into my knees and one person step on my foot. So when it came time for my stop, I just stood up and almost knocked that person over trying to get off the train.
It’s sort of like commuter karma…
When I got into my building this morning, I was greeted by the site of a half-dressed, drugged out transvestite with her drugged out john. Not that I have anything against anyone, but this poor thing was there with her john and they were sitting and sharing a cup of coffee. The issue? Well the first thing I noticed was the strap tank top she was wearing since her back was to me (that was no woman’s back!) and then I noticed that her jeans stopped well before the shirt started and her thong was sticking out about 6 inches from the back of her pants.
By the time I got into Dunkin Donuts to get my coffee, everyone was whispering and talking about it since you had to walk by them to get there, everyone had seen them.
That’s what makes working in Boston interesting I guess…
I didn’t discover that Boston was the supposed target of terrorists until the ride home last night. I guess the city is all on alert because there are possibly Chinese terrorists or something coming to Boston. Mayor Mumbles (Menino) had a press conference last night and was like ‘it’s okay…” and that was about it.
I’m off to the doctor’s this afternoon to listen to him tell me that while my blood pressure is fine now that I’ve quit smoking, I still need to lose weight and lower my cholesterol. I will nod my head and say yes and make an appointment for 6 months from now. Though last time I was there I was so pissed – I had quit smoking for about 3 months at that point and the idiot was like “you gained more weight,” and I was like “well, I quit smoking…” Wouldn’t even say good job for that, was just worried that I gained a few pounds.
If I’m still pissed when I leave the office today – I’m going to start interviewing doctors to find a new one – any suggestions for doctors in Metrowest or slightly west of that area?
