12/13/2004: "where are those keys?"

Moe lost his keys this weekend and while I’m fairly sure they must have been lost through normal, run-of-the-mill means, perhaps it was that ghost that seems to be hanging around the house.

We spent the better part of last night looking for them. We literally had the house taken apart and the keys were nowhere to be seen. I told Moe, once we replace all the keys and he’s good to go – we’ll find his old keys sitting on the kitchen table – right out in the open.

Nevertheless, Moe was fairly upset about it and rightly so – it is a pain to lose your keys. Plus he has been having a trying few months, between opening the new store and stuff like this happening to him.

Isn’t that what the holidays are all about?

That and shopping until you’re sick of shopping and then shopping some more. Saturday we were in Natick with Brendan and Sharon (in the process I think we killed her since we stayed out close to midnight by the time we shopped and ate our requisite roast beef sandwich at Kelly’s, before dropping her off at home). Sunday Moe and I headed out alone to hit the shops. I can’t say that I’m done – but with my new ‘christmas budget,’ I’m done until I get paid again on Friday.

Christmas shopping without plastic has been an exercise in patience. I’m used to just going and getting whatever, whenever. Now I have to think about it and plan it out. It’s all very strange to me.

Plus I still have no idea what to get for some of our friends.
