This is specifically for Jackie and all who think as she does. her tone, that gays and lesbians should be grateful that we are allowed to live in freedom rather than be jailed is wholly unacceptable. We are Americans, we pay our taxes, vote, serve in the military. We don't require Jackie's "toleration." We currently do not have the rights that are guaranteed to all Americans under the constitution--that is a fact and it is those rights we seek, nothing more. Secondly, marriage in the Bible and throughout history has frequently NOT been one man and one woman. Polygamy, one man and as many women as he wanted, was the norm in Biblical times and existed in the 19th century in the Christian Mormon Church, a fact that our current Governor, Mitt Romney, very conveniently continues to ignore. And from the beginning of recorded history until some time in the late 19th century and even into the 20th, marriage was a contract essentially between two men--the bride's father who transferred a piece of property, the bride, to the bride's husband. So if that's the model Jackie wants to follow, I wish her a great deal of luck.
